An Interview With Loeb Leadership: receiving the Elevate ALA Award 2022

LOEB LEADERSHIP PROUDLY RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION THROUGH THE ASSOCIATION OF LEGAL ADMINISTRATORS, (ALA) ELEVATE AWARD 2022

Q&A with Loeb Leadership Founder & CEO and President

Last week, Loeb Leadership attended the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) 2022 Annual Conference and Expo in Kissimmee, Florida. The team hosted a 1-day pre-conference workshop of their award-winning Managing for Impact series, and Loeb consultants facilitated two breakout discussions titled "Mentoring Up: How to Change Minds and Challenge Perspectives of Firm Leaders" and "Getting It Right: How to Create an Inclusive Culture to Support Recruitment and Retention."

During the conference, ALA leadership announced Loeb Leadership as the recipient of the 2022 Elevate ALA Award, making Loeb Leadership the first business partner in ALA history to receive this honor.

The Elevate ALA Award recognizes up to three recipients whose efforts demonstrate advancement in professional development, networking, visibility, and inclusion.

PSM Marketing sat down for a Q&A with Loeb Leadership duo Natalie Loeb, Founder and CEO, and Gordon Loeb, President, to talk about their history with ALA and what receiving this award means to them and their team.

HOW DID LOEB LEADERSHIP GET CONNECTED WITH ALA?

Loeb Leadership has been exhibiting and speaking at the national conferences for over 10 years, but their relationship with ALA truly deepened when they were invited to become a business partner with the New York City Chapter about five years ago.

“I knew and admired many of the members already,” says Natalie Loeb, Loeb Leadership Founder and CEO, “but had no idea how hard they work to build a chapter that offers superior professional development and support to each other.”

The work the Loeb Leadership team has done with NYC ALA over the years has been rewarding on both ends. The NYC Chapter says Loeb Leadership has been an “instrumental asset” to the chapter since 2017, and Natalie has been a member of the Chapter’s Business Partner Advisory Council for the past two years, serving as a liaison between the Board and other business partners.

“Having the opportunity to support leaders with a growth mindset inspires everyone on our team every day” says Natalie. “The leadership of ALA NYC has been a force for promoting the development of their members both personally and professionally and we’re glad that we have been a part of the journey. It is truly gratifying when you can see how lives can change when people grow together” adds Gordon.

WHAT IS LOEB LEADERSHIP’S BIGGEST CONTRIBUTION TO ALA?

Loeb Leadership offers training and development workshops, assessments, and consulting services for the leadership and members of ALA. They have offered their one-day Managing for Impact program several times at ALA annual conferences that always receives rave reviews. In 2019, it received the highest evaluation of any ALA program.

Their areas of personal and professional development include leadership and management development, team dynamics, culture work, DEI&A, executive and leadership coaching. ALA sees that Loeb Leadership consistently brings in incredible facilitators, coaches, and consultants to all engagements, and knows the Loeb team is with them throughout the development process.

“If our work helps one leader, we know we have made a difference, because that one leader impacts others” says Natalie.

HOW DID YOUR WORK WITH THE NYC CHAPTER LEAD YOU TO RECEIVING THE ELEVATE AWARD?

Like many, Loeb Leadership was not sure how the business would be affected at the start of the pandemic in 2020 but noticed immediately that there was a dire need to do what they do best – support their clients through challenging times. Loeb Leadership offered multiple workshops to the ALA NYC chapter related to leading through uncertain times, managing remote teams, and guiding law firms back into the office. The team continued to check in on the chapter, participated as keynote speakers in their 2022 Symposium, attended events, and even hosted a virtual cooking class for the board and business partners.

In early spring 2022, NYC ALA named Loeb Leadership “Business Partner of the Year” for all Loeb has done to support the Chapter through the pandemic and beyond. When the ALA National Conference rolled around, the NYC Chapter’s Board of Directors “unanimously and without hesitation or single objection” nominated Loeb Leadership as a candidate for national ALA recognition through the Elevate award.

WHAT DOES RECEIVING THIS AWARD MEAN TO YOU AND YOUR COMPANY?

“It means so much to be awarded this honor from those we respect and admire” says Natalie. “We are used to being the ‘supporting actor,’ not the ‘lead.’  We prefer that our clients stand out, as opposed to us. But this award is a recognition of the power of teamwork and symbolizes that our efforts to support our clients were noticed and appreciated. And of course, that feels truly amazing.”

“When the ALA National Leadership team approached us to let us know we’d won the award, they prefaced the conversation by saying it was a ‘big deal’ and ‘well deserved’” says Gordon. “It was the icing on the cake. This recognition for Loeb and the work that we do is an award not just for us, but for the incredible team of coaches and consultants that support us.”

WHAT DO YOU HOPE THIS RECOGNITION WILL HELP YOU ACHIEVE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ALA?

The mission of Loeb Leadership is to develop extraordinary inclusive leaders, and constantly encourages people to realize the importance of investing in one’s own professional development and team. Loeb Leadership hopes that by receiving the Elevate award, they are encouraging and inspiring all leaders in ALA to continue learning and growing.

“We hope to be able to support anyone who wants to develop themselves and their members as we go through these challenging times” says Gordon. “We bring a high level of passion to everything we do, and we enjoy seeing the positive effects we have on the people we work with.”

Spearheaded by David B. Sarnoff, Esq., Loeb’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Loeb Leadership is currently business partners with the NYC, DC-Capital, Philadelphia, and Chicago chapters and hopes to expand their relationships into other ALA chapters. Natalie, Gordon, and over 50 coaches and consultants are extremely proud to continue working with ALA and all its members.

WHAT DO YOU WANT ALA MEMBERS TO KNOW ABOUT LOEB LEADERSHIP?

“We believe in community.  And if someone wants to join our community of lifelong learners, we welcome them, always.  Reach out anytime to share ideas, seek feedback or guidance, or perhaps just for a cup of coffee to catch up.  We will always make time!  We care about the success of our clients and colleagues... and get inspired by watching it happen” says Natalie.

“We’d like to give a huge thank you to our colleagues and friends at ALA NYC, ALA National, and several other chapters that we have been humbled to work with over the years.” The Loeb’s add, “We truly believe in what we do and look forward to continuing to elevate people and relationships to be extraordinary.”
